I've been writing for both children and adults for many years. I usually write poetry and short fiction, but I've also written scripts, columns for a football programme and even a pathway! I've published a full-length book of poetry for adults. Many years ago I wrote some books for teachers published by Scholastic and many articles for education magazines such as Junior Education and Junior Focus. I've been published in all sorts of books, magazines and anthologies in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada and Aotearoa New Zealand.
I've worked as a primary school teacher for several years, having experience across KS1 and KS2, and also doing many sessions in the Foundation Stage. I've been responsible for various curriculum areas. I run writing workshops in various places, but have always particularly enjoyed working with primary school children. I have judged local and national competitions for poetry and flash fictions, and am a teacher judge for the BBC's 500 Words children's writing competition.
I worked for many years as part of The Big Fun Club, performing at various comedy clubs all over the UK, as well as in Holland and Spain. I also compered and did my own sets at regular comedy nights in Hull, Leeds, Bradford and Newcastle. I have written and performed pantomimes and other shows which toured schools, libraries and community venues. I have performed comedy and poetry at Leeds, Reading and Latitude Festivals.
